A 2009 Recap

I've made a list of the top 10 happenings of 2009... Here they are and in no particular order:

1. This February Spencer and I journeyed to the Wonderful place called Arizona. This is my favorite place ever, and it gave us a chance to leave freezing Idaho for a much warmer time. We went down for 2 weddings, My brother Mikes, and one of my bestie's Michelle's wedding. We really enjoyed the sunshine and being around friends and family. We also got our income taxes while we were gone and paid a little visit to Las Vegas. I have never been there, and am not really a fan of Vegas by night, but during the day I had a blast!! It was one of the best trips I've ever taken! Here are some pics...
This picture is TOTALLY Mike... I'm glad they did this.

Just one pic from Michelle and Vianney's wedding.
Our humble abode while in Vegas!

2. Another thing that happened this year... not one but 2 pregnancies!! We found out we were pregnant after 5 months of trying in June. We were thrilled! We experienced one of the most tragic events in our lives when I lost the baby at home at nearly 4 months along in September. We loved the idea of a brother or sister or Cohen that we began trying right away and in November found out we were expecting again, only to loose it at 7 weeks. It has been a trying time for us and we firmly believe something good is heading our way, because we have literally been pushed to our spiritual and emotional limits. As of right now we aren't trying again. We are putting a few months of healing and herbal supplements to get things working right.

3. We moved to Orlando and back this summer!! Spencer's job took us to Orlando, FL for the summer. That is the hottest place I have ever been!! Orlando brought us lots of fun times and memories. We went to several beaches, Daytona Beach was my absolute favorite. Cohen loved the beach!!
We got to meet up with one of my old and dear friends Sam, who I hadn't seen since right after high school graduation. He hadn't changed a bit, except he's a big tough Marine now. But he was still good ol' overachieveing Sam. (That's a compliment by the way...)
This was Clearwater Beach. We went with our friends Kyle and Nicky, and took a sea safari, at delicious sea food, and let cohen splash around in some shallow, but murky beachwater.
Finally in the last week we were in Orlando we got to see a shuttle launch. We made SEVERAL attempts to see one while there but they kept getting cancelled due to weather and equiptment issues. But here's a pic. Nicky took this one.
Disneyworld!! This was one of the best memories I have of my little family. There was so much love that day, and I was so grateful I get to be with these two forever!! Cohen loved it, and I almost cried when I saw the Disney Castle. It was a dream come true!
4. American Idol Auditions!! Yep, I auditioned for American Idol this July. I was one among nearly 10,000 others!! Here are some pics so you can see how crazy this all was!! I didn't make it past the first round, but that was ok with me, i didn't think I would. But it was very fun to be a part of the whole experience! And I saw Ryan Seacrest and Justin Guarini.

5. Making my house a home. I've taken a little more effort this year into making my house a home. I've added curtains which some I have made and am so proud of them. I scored Cohen a racecar bed for only $30 and I am so proud of his room. I am still constantly making efforts to make it beautiful, but I am loving it so far!

6. Spencer's surprise!! When September rolled around Spencer and I parted ways for about 6 weeks while he worked in Washington DC and I headed to Idaho to start seeing a doctor for my pregnancy. While he was gone we lost the first pregnancy and so many other things. It was such a hard time to be apart but we definitely grew from it. His big surprise was him showing up a week early to my doorstep with the roses pictured below. This man loves me, let me tell ya!

7. Halloween. Halloween was a fun time for us, we had a party and dressed up and Cohen scored on candy! He was superman. I was Batgirl, and Spencer was Batman. Our party was fun and everyone dressed up.

8. Spencer's Surprise Bday gift to me: He was my teddy bear date!! He dressed as a bear and escorted me to Red Robin and Coldstone and Walmart. He was so proud of himself and totally surprised me. I don't know about you, but it's not everyday your man dresses as a teddy bear for you. <3

9. Purses! I learned the art of purse making and have made it into quite a hobby I really enjoy. I've sold quite a few and they have really brought me attention to my etsy store!

10. Last and certainly not least, is how much my baby boy has grown!! The first picture was taken in January 09, and the last is Cohen in Dec. 09. This boy has just grown before my eyes. He was just learning to walk in January! He just talked gibberish, now this boy runs everywhere and talks all day long...English!! He is so smart and just a big ball of love and laughter. I love him more and more everyday and it keeps growing!! I can even imagine how he'll be a year from now!!

2009 Was in interesting year. I'm glad to see it go, as I am hoping for a much better 2010 where some of my wishes will come true!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Christmas Highlights

This year we had a great Christmas! Our good friends decided to stay close to home for Christmas, so we had them over to spend Christmas Eve and Day with us! The Festivities started around 8pm on Christmas Eve and went all the way till 1am on Dec 26th!! We got up on Christmas morning and headed down to open presents together and see what Santa had brought! Cohen got the hang of opening presents really quick, which is a good thing b/c Santa sure spoiled him! Some of the gifts he received are a Mickey Mouse quilt and stuffed animal, Several books, 3 Cars and a Firetruck (his favorite toy of the day), and a giant coloring book with crayons. I got a beautiful casserole dish set (13 piece) that can go in the oven, freezer, dishwasher etc... and they just happen to match my new kitchen curtains perfectly!! Spencer got a chess board-mulit game set, and we got a "Family Feud" game for our Wii. And of course candy and junk in our stockings. Our friends Cesar and Linda gave us such a cute little gift, it had all kinds of little fun things in it, including a spouse coupon book (like for a back rub, doing the dishes, a date night etc...) some candy, a movie, gloves, (Cohen's firetruck was in the basket), lotions, popcorn and all kinds of fun things!! i let Jeri and Linda pick out a purse from my store collection for their gifts.

After we opened up presents the womenfolk headed into the kitchen an made a huge breakfast of waffles, eggs, bacon and good ol' OJ. As soon as that was eaten, the kitchen was cleaned up and then we started dinner. I made a ham (my first time making one) and it turned out soooo good. Alos with the ham we had mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, and corn. It was so good. I know I was stuffed. So, after dinner we cleaned up and headed our seperate ways. Cesar was having a bday party at his house (His bday was Christmas day too) so they headeded home with Jeri and Miguel to get ready for that and we went over to Spencer's parent's house. They had little snack foods like mini cheesecake squares so we at a little bit (we were soooo full). So we stayed there for about an hour and then headed to Rexburg for their party. So we get there, play some wii, eat some Carne Asada (I dont know if I spelled that right) play some more, then finally around 1am we decide to head home, and Cohen finally fell asleep on the way home. it was a long long day, and i am still full from all the food. Oh, and Spencer proposed to me 4 years ago on Christmas Eve at the Idaho Falls temple, so we stopped by there on our way home from Rexburg. It's a tradition. We've gone their every year since :) Anywho, enjoy the pics! There's more on my facebook if you wanna see!

The Verdict

Well after a few weeks of tests and 2 ultrasounds, today they confirmed what I already had expected 2 weeks ago... I have miscarried again.

Spencer and I are dealing with this the best we can, and as much as I'd like to say so, it's not going to be a very Merry Christmas in the Morris household. It was quite a roller coaster ride this time around, they couldn't make up their minds if I was pregnant or not still, they even thought i could only be 3 weeks along instead of 7, but I knew that couldn't be. We are going to give my body time to recover from these last two months, and we're going to try the herbal route to get things more in balance. I was taking many herbal supplements when I got pregnant with Cohen, so we're hoping for that again, eventually.

Ultrasound...

Todays ultrasound was:

INCONCLUSIVE

We're waiting on the results of some bloodwork to know for sure if I am still pregnant, just not as far along as I thought. Who knows.

Seriously???

Things you just don't say...

"Maybe you are meant to be a one-child family."

"I don't understand why women have a hard time getting pregnant. You're a woman, it's your job to get pregnant and make babies, and it must be something you are doing wrong if you can't do your job, it's just science."

"You can always just adopt"

"At least this is all happening really early... it's not like you are getting attached."

Seriously, some people just need to pull their lips over their heads and swallow.

Ugh.

Ugh. It's been a long few days. I am very impatiently waiting for the 17th to come so I can go back to my doctor. I am scheduled for an ultrasound and I am terrified that we aren't going to see anything there. I will be 6weeks 5 days so there is a good chance I'll get to see a heartbeat, but I can't shake this sinking feeling I have that there won't be anything there. Spencer tells me to just think positive and for now enjoy being pregnant, but I am afraid to. I don't want my hopes to be dashed. Time is moving soo slowly and I can't take it! My ultrasound is at 8am on thursday morning, I don't think I'll sleep a wink Wednesday night. Anywho... that's what is bouncing around in my head right now. Please continue to pray for us and this little one! Thanks guys~
